Lots of organizations devoted their time, money & space for developers, I would rate 80% of them as coders. They knows nothing but writing code on their own.
Some of them rated themselves as geeks and rest used to introduce them as the most valuable people on this EARTH.
What the heck?
- They can not identify the requirements from their customers.
- They are not willing to accept their own mistakes.
- They never satisfy with the budgets, resources and the requirements.
- They will notice all the minor issues on other but not the show stoppers with them
- Funny thing, they want others to follow them.
For what???
I am still finding the reason for that.
According to these guys and their superiors, so called engineers won't introduce any issues.
Therefore none of them are willing to listen to the testers/QAEs and BAs.
These geeks and VPs wanted testers and BAs to stay away from them. Reason: they are the problem makers.
They will give 1001 reasons to defend their mistakes rather issues. Never stays for a customer call and do not wanna see a requirement spec or detailed stories. They do not wanna see the boundaries and will start the coding without a design spec.
With these attitudes, value for the testers/QAEs and BA went down throughout the years. Some of the organizations purposely lowered the bar for QAE and BA by introducing new theories.
Basic Requirements for a Tester/QAE:
- You should apply for a developer job (sorry Software Engineering job).
- You failed to meet the expectation of their chief coder (Sorry I cannot use the term Architect due to cpl of reasons. Please see the list below;
- You can not identify the requirements through a well formatted but less informative document but willing to develop an application without raising any questions to the customer
- You cannot read his mind
- You are a dumb ass than their chief coder
- Your accent is far superior than his and do know how to write mails to the superiors
Basic Requirements for a BA:
- You can speak in English
- You can write in English
- You have a more westernized accent
- Knows all the restaurant within the city limits and knows the table manners
- Can say "yes" to customers, "yes" to your superiors and "no" to the development and test teams.
Due to the way others teart them, most of the top notch QAEs and BAs haven’t identified their value.
I accept the fact that some of the testers/QAEs and BAs also fuelling for these stepmother treats.
Lack of domain knowledge & technical skills of some of the people in to this segment make others to think like that.
But time has come to change the attitudes on QAEs and BAs.We have to change the way they treat these domains. Time has come to educate the others on QA, BA and related methodologies. I think this blog will help local QAEs and BAs to share their knowledge, best practices with fellow mates and will help them to make their future a better one.
